As I was catching up on my YouTube videos, I came across this awesome recipe from Sorted Foods (you can check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRIyOqKE-Ws). It looked so good and I had to recreate it. The hardest thing about wanting to make the recipe was converting it to US measurements because of it being Italian and I couldn't find any other recipes for it, except from Sorted Foods. So, here's the original recipe if you use different measurements (http://sortedfood.com/#!/core/chiappafrieddough/)

- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups flour, (plus extra plus extra to dust)
- 1 tsp fine salt
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
To Prep the Chisurin:
- 1/2 quantity of pizza dough (so half of the quantities above)
- Hershey's Milk Chocolate (Or any chocolate that can be broken off into squares)
- chopped hazelnuts
- flour, to dust
- powdered sugar, to dust
- vegetable oil, for frying
Recipe
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in 1 ⅛ cups (1 cup and 2 tablespoons) of warm water and allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl.
- Stir in the yeasty water with a fork until it starts to form a dough.
- Add the oil and bring together into a smooth dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until it has an elastic, smooth texture(If the dough sticks to your hands, add a little extra flour.)
- Place the dough back in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
- Leave for 30 minutes to 1 hour, until it has doubled in size.
- Roll the dough onto a well-floured work surface. The dough should be quite thin – about the thickness of cardboard.
- Cut the dough into rough rectangles, about 10cm x 5cm.
- Place a piece of chocolate and a sprinkle of hazelnuts in one half and fold the dough over to create a square.
- Press around the edges to seal.
- Pour the oil into a pan to a depth of 2cm and place over a medium heat, never leave this unattended.
- Heat the oil until a small piece of the dough dropped in bubbles and quickly turns golden brown.
- Fry the pieces of dough, a few at a time, for 3 to 4 minutes, turning to cook on both sides, until golden and crispy. Take care not to burn them.
- Use a spider or slotted spoon to remove the parcels from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Repeat with the rest of the dough and serve immediately, sprinkled with powdered sugar.
